Club Champs Day 2- 10 Km 2008 - The Onaero Trot
Another great day and turn out for the second day of the club champs at Onaero this year. The weather and the course helped turn out some good times includings some PBs.
The club champs over 10K this year are Wayne Loveridge (Men); Rachel Gilberd (Women); and Arthur Lester (Vets). In the Juniors Renee Moratti took the 3k title and Deanna Moratti the 2k title.
The course through Ohanga road has always proved to be a fast one. There is some spectacular scenery but no one seems to take any notice of it. Just the hint of controversay over the exact distance of the course added spice to discussions on the relative performances of everyone.
Whilst the racing wasn't always close the times were good. Especially good times from Rachel, Tanya and Marlen on the women's side and Wayne, Dave, Phil, Nick, Alan and Mike on the boys side.
Illness and return from injury slowed some down but the competitive spirit came out in the end - poor old Dave getting beaten with 10m to go!!!
We're nearing the end of our Club season - just the Pukekura Wind Down and the Daily News half marathon to go. The Points Trophy is getting exciting!!!
