This is a new event for the Club to try and encourage juniors by giving them some experience of racing with their peers and under judged conditions. Raced over a 2km circuit in a new subdivision of Hawera, we were delighted to have 12 juniors from the lower North Island.
It has to be said that the weather was not terribly kind to us. Whilst the rain held off the wind turned parts of the course into a wind tunnel. Nevermind, the juniors did an excellent job and turned in some good times. After the race, feedback was provided by the judges. Many thnaks to the judges - Colin, Alan, Graham, Sandra and Rachel
The old senior hacks then went out for a 5km or 10km “sail”!!! A hot cuppa was then required to warm everyone up!!!
Many thanks to Peter Fox for organising the event so well and a special thanks to all those that helped get the juniors up here. We hope you got home safe and sound. We look forward to having you back next year.
