Well we all thought last year's weather was a shocker - I guess we were wrong. This year was worse - colder and wetter - thank goodness the wind didn't get up until after the event.
Fortunately the weather didn't stop some hot walking. There were a number of very competitive races going on. Phil, Dave and Jeff fought out a very close battle all the way. Mike and Ian Bailey also had a real good tussle. The women's event was wide open but eventually Denise Stewart-Jacks made no contest of it. Eric tried hard but couldn't quite break the 2 hour barrier - still he was an easy winner of the men's race and the first overall walker home.
Another fantastic effort from Arthur Lester - 2:53:23 - 7 mins faster than last year. Well done to Brian O'Shea - completing a half-marathon on one 10km training walk!!!
Thanks for all the great support out there and the Club members who helped out running the event.
Despite the weather everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves.
Next up is the Club Prize-Giving Dinner on Thursday 22 October 2009 where the results of the Norm Morriss Memorial Club will be announced together with the winner of this years Points Trophy.
